we are currently facing following challenge. Our customer wants to be able to recover a backup of his HANA database directly into a new SID using backint (TSM in this case as backup tool) to be able to recover his HANA database into a new instance to handle logical errors (e.g. data in table has been deleted). We already recovered a backup to a new instance running the same SID (on separate hardware) but in case to recover the production system the development system is not able to handle the amount of data, so we are forced to recover the database on the same hardware under a new SID. I hope this explanation was accurate enough to get your understanding.
